\nonuniform Sampling: Bandwidth and Aliasing"

چکیده

For spectroscopic measurements there are good reasons why one might consider using nonuniformly nonsimultaneously sampled complex data. The primary one is that the e ective bandwidth, the largest spectral window free of aliases, can be much wider than with uniformly sampled data. In this paper we discuss nonuniformly nonsimultaneously sampled data, describe how these data are traditionally analyzed, analyze them using probability theory and show how probability theory generalizes the discrete Fourier transform: rst for uniformly sampled data, then for nonuniformly sampled data and nally for nonuniformly nonsimultaneously sampled data. These generalizations demonstrate that aliases are not so much removed by nonuniform nonsimultaneous sampling as they are moved to much higher frequencies.

Advanced Processing of Nonuniformly Sampled Non-Stationary Signals

A signal is stationary if its statistical characteristics do not change with time. Signals of practical interest often do not comply with this requirement [1]. It has been quit difficult to satisfactorily handle non-stationary signals using conceptualizations based on stationarity, as it is assumed, for example, by classical Fourier transform. Nonstationary signals justify the need for joint ti...

End-to-End Bandwidth Estimation for TCP Congestion Control in Packet Networks

Today TCP/IP congestion control implements the additive increase/multiplicative decrease (AIMD) paradigm to probe network capacity and obtain a “rough” but robust measurement of the best effort available bandwidth. To improve the efficiency of congestion control, Westwood TCP proposes an additive increase/adaptive decrease paradigm that adaptively sets the transmission rate at the end of the pr...

Aliasing detection and resolving in the estimation of polynomial-phase signal parameters

A novel method for aliasing detection and resolving in the estimation of polynomialphase signal (PPS) parameters is presented. Aliasing is detected using two high-order ambiguity functions (HAFs) of a uniformly sampled PPS embedded in noise. If aliasing occurred, we propose a way of recovering the true parameters from their aliased positions. To that end, a closed-form expression for the true p...

Sub-Nyquist sampling of multiband signals: perfect reconstruction and bounds on aliasing error

We consider the problem of periodic nonuniform sampling of a multiband signal and its reconstruction from the samples. We derive the conditions for exact reconstruction and find an explicit reconstruction formula. Key features of this method are that the sampling rate can be made arbitrarily close to the minimum (Landau) rate and that it can handle classes of multiband signals that are not pack...
